INJECTION MOLDING
The injection molding process uses moulds, typically made of Steel or Aluminium. A plastic material of choice is injected into the mould to get the components. While tooling is a time consuming affair and is expensive, Injection Moulding is used when you require the parts to be out of the intended material which can be subjected to rigorous tests including compliance.
THERMO FORMING / VACUUM FORMING
Vacuum Forming is a process wherein a sheet of plastic material is heated to pliability and then pressed against a 3D mould, by Vacuuming out the air between the sheet and the mould. The mould can be made in wood or plastic. The many benefits of vacuum foirming include quick and inexpensive tooling and the ability to form large parts.
FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC (FRP)
FRP is a two-step process which involves reinforcing a binding agent with a fibre sheet. Fibre Sheets are typically made through weaving or knitting. Although time consuming, FRP parts have excellent strength and durability, which are often unmatched by regular plastics. When produced with a Carbon fibre mat, the resultant parts have excellent strength to weight ratio.
SHEET METAL
Sheet Metal forming is a process wherein pieces of sheet metal are modified to its geometry, by pressing it against a 3D die. Individual pieces can be welded to form a 3D structure.
